Welcome to Poetics, my name is Brian Miller and I will be your host today—and I have a treat for you today. A visual feast to inspire your poetic pen.
First, I have a secret for you.
I don’t just read poetry blogs. I have a pretty eclectic blog list. Many of those I follow I consider friends, but also in many ways they inspire me as well.

Today, I brought one of those blog friends with me, along with some of her photography. Reena Walkling blogs at Missing Moments, where she shows off some amazing photographic skills, and even writes poetry.
Several times a week, she amazes me with the beauty that she captures. So of course, I thought, we need to write some poetry to go with these.
So here is your challenge today.
- Select one of Reena’s pictures from the selection above and let it inspire your poem for today.
- Be sure to give Reena credit for the picture in your blog post, this is essential for copyright.
- Post the poem on your blog.
- Link your poem here at dVerse by pressing that Mr Linky button down below.
- When the pop up window opens, enter your name and a direct url to your poem in the provided spaces.
- Then go visit some of the other poets and let them know what you think of their work. While you are at it be sure to drop into Missing Moments and let Reena know how much you appreciate her art.
Have fun everyone! See you out on the trail! ~Brian

good afternoon everyone and welcome to Poetics….have fun with these pics…and do pay Reena a visit as well…look forward to seeing what you bring to the poetic table today.
These are all amazing! And I’m off! Thank you Reena for sharing your work with us!
Whoops! And thank YOU Brian…for introducing us to this wonderful talent! (I’m excited…sue me!)
smiles…go have fun…weave wordz…will be waiting with bated breathe…smiles….
Nice prompt, Brian! I am just going to encourage any of you on Google Blogger to remove that dreadful “Word Verification” tool. It has become intolerable this past week with the two words (often shadowed/illegible) to write to prove one is not a robot. I had to try four times to comment on Charles’ blog right now. Finally achieved it. I’ve been encouraging everyone I can to stop using it, as it just isn’t fun to try to comment with it in place.
i agree mary it is beastly now…the words hard to read and doing it over and over again is def frustrating….
Ha… I thought my vision was in trouble (just kidding). I agree, though. It’s definitely a determent
I follow Reena, too; she is amazing. Very excited about this prompt. The hardest part is, which to choose? Thank you, Brian and Reena!
yes she is…i def enjoy her photo/art…and i had the same problem…her pics of pompeii really grabbed me though…
Thanks for the lovely prompt Brian.
I have taken off the word verification too…so its easy to comment.
Just an observation – that this must be about the picture prompt you provided, isn’t it? If not, please delete the links when its a random posting. Thanks ~
Smiles ~
Definitely, for anyone linking please make sure it is related to the prompt…it will be open until midnite tomorrow so you have plenty of time…
Thanks Brian. And I hope that writers read your post first, before linking up. Reena’s site is full of wonderful pictures ~
Gorgeous, inspiring photos. Enjoyed this prompt very much, thank you.
Wonderful photography, Reena. Thanks for the great prompt…don’t know if I’ll be able to respond as now I’m spending time with vertigo! We’ll see.
yikes…victoria hope that clears up soon….
Oh no, that’s miserable! … And a little bit fun, but mostly miserable. 🙂
Great prompt, Brian… and I love Reena’s blog. Thank you!
Excellent prompt, Brian. Awesome photos, Reena! Thanks for the opportunity to join you fine folks here at the pub!
The photo, “Pompei” reached out and grabbed me, but I think they all would if I’d give them a chance!
nice…that is the one that grabbed me as well charles….
Thanks for this Brian – I ended up reading Reena’s whole site (as my poem attests) A
fascinating, accomplished woman
FYI – do most of you know that if you can’t read the “robot lettering” you can click the sound icon and get something said? I haven’t tried this – it might be something inaudible instead of something illegible but it’s a thought ..

i have yet to try the audio as well…
reena is def that as well…smiles…
I like this prompt Brian, loved the photographs. The older I get the more I appreciate the beauty of God’s creation.
Couldn’t resist this one–though I think I have to go lay down now after word-wrestling for four hours. Great prompt, boss–thanks for bringing Reena on board, and thanks to her for so graciously letting us use her images for inspiration.
good evening everyone.. just coming home…was on a birthday party…been dancing…smiles….
thanks Reena for inspiring us with your beautiful photography and thanks bri for introducing her to us…
it is already looooong after midnight over here…so i need a bed.. and be back in the morning to start my commenting round….
I’m a dancer too, girl. But I don’t need a party; I just do it at home with my kids. 🙂 Hope you had a great time!
there she is…get some rest claudia…we will see if we cant fill the pub for your return in the morning…
Hi Brian, Love the photos. I didn’t actually choose my favorite–they are all lovely–but it’s the one that brought first poem. Take care and thanks always. K.
ah, thank you…enjoyed the trip into the wilds of the urban jungle…smiles…
Love the pic of the bird, but I assumed it would be very popular. So I went with a couple of the other ones.
i knew that one would be popular when i picked it….happy saturday evening shawna…
And happy soon-to-be-Sunday to you, Brian. 🙂
Love these choices of photos…and thank you for the introduction, Brian…they’re all great..I went with the one that reminds me of one of my favorite places to visit…
Thanks, Brian!
ah, i used to live there…so i know what you mean….
I’m posting so late. Almost missed the boat.
I love Reena’s photos. She is a truly talented photographer. Thanks for the intro Brian.
oh not at all…it will be up until tomorrow at midnite so you are in plenty of time…i enjoyed your verse myrna…made me smile….
Good Evening Sir….Jack, Single Barrel…neat, please
as the poetic eye views an unknown moment, the race begins….connect the tint, unwind the purposeful shading, creatively dissecting the stranger’s vision
the word “prompt” seems too simplistic for what happens next…as I read the words, I lose the image and gain the passion of a pen…a singular method of transference
from canvas to page. it works into us
as always, D’verse offers a venue more than worthy of it’s name
Peace
most def…coming right up…great timing, i just stepped back in after a movie….got a little catching up to do, but out on the trail now….and thank you sir…smiles.
alright…heading to bed…will be back in the morning to read the over nights…
