Welcome to Poetics, my name is Brian Miller and I will be your host today—and I have a treat for you today. A visual feast to inspire your poetic pen.
First, I have a secret for you.
I don’t just read poetry blogs. I have a pretty eclectic blog list. Many of those I follow I consider friends, but also in many ways they inspire me as well.
Today, I brought one of those blog friends with me, along with some of her photography. Reena Walkling blogs at Missing Moments, where she shows off some amazing photographic skills, and even writes poetry.
Several times a week, she amazes me with the beauty that she captures. So of course, I thought, we need to write some poetry to go with these.
So here is your challenge today.
- Select one of Reena’s pictures from the selection above and let it inspire your poem for today.
- Be sure to give Reena credit for the picture in your blog post, this is essential for copyright.
- Post the poem on your blog.
- Link your poem here at dVerse by pressing that Mr Linky button down below.
- When the pop up window opens, enter your name and a direct url to your poem in the provided spaces.
- Then go visit some of the other poets and let them know what you think of their work. While you are at it be sure to drop into Missing Moments and let Reena know how much you appreciate her art.
Have fun everyone! See you out on the trail! ~Brian

Nice prompt, Brian! I am just going to encourage any of you on Google Blogger to remove that dreadful “Word Verification” tool. It has become intolerable this past week with the two words (often shadowed/illegible) to write to prove one is not a robot. I had to try four times to comment on Charles’ blog right now. Finally achieved it. I’ve been encouraging everyone I can to stop using it, as it just isn’t fun to try to comment with it in place.
brian said:
i agree mary it is beastly now…the words hard to read and doing it over and over again is def frustrating….
Laurie Kolp said:
Ha… I thought my vision was in trouble (just kidding). I agree, though. It’s definitely a determent
ds said:
I follow Reena, too; she is amazing. Very excited about this prompt. The hardest part is, which to choose? Thank you, Brian and Reena!
brian miller said:
yes she is…i def enjoy her photo/art…and i had the same problem…her pics of pompeii really grabbed me though…
Grace said:
Thanks for the lovely prompt Brian.
I have taken off the word verification too…so its easy to comment.
Just an observation – that this must be about the picture prompt you provided, isn’t it? If not, please delete the links when its a random posting. Thanks ~
Smiles ~

Definitely, for anyone linking please make sure it is related to the prompt…it will be open until midnite tomorrow so you have plenty of time…
Grace said:
Thanks Brian. And I hope that writers read your post first, before linking up. Reena’s site is full of wonderful pictures ~

Excellent prompt, Brian. Awesome photos, Reena! Thanks for the opportunity to join you fine folks here at the pub!
The photo, “Pompei” reached out and grabbed me, but I think they all would if I’d give them a chance!
brian said:
nice…that is the one that grabbed me as well charles….

Thanks for this Brian – I ended up reading Reena’s whole site (as my poem attests) A
fascinating, accomplished woman
FYI – do most of you know that if you can’t read the “robot lettering” you can click the sound icon and get something said? I haven’t tried this – it might be something inaudible instead of something illegible but it’s a thought ..

Good Evening Sir….Jack, Single Barrel…neat, please
as the poetic eye views an unknown moment, the race begins….connect the tint, unwind the purposeful shading, creatively dissecting the stranger’s vision
the word “prompt” seems too simplistic for what happens next…as I read the words, I lose the image and gain the passion of a pen…a singular method of transference
from canvas to page. it works into us
as always, D’verse offers a venue more than worthy of it’s name
Peace
