bathroom poetry, claudia schoenfeld, ducks and other wild animals, i can't see anything because of all the foam, poetry, poetry prompts, what hides in the shower
It happens about every second week… I enter the bathroom (in my pajama), slide back the glass door to the shower, (not yet undressed), switch on the water (cause I want it to be warm already when I step in) and within a millisecond, I’m soaking wet & the bathroom’s flooded cause my son left the shower head in the “i aim at you” position.. AGAIN…ha…
Bathrooms are intimate (and sometimes dangerous) places…smiles
So do you write blue-marker-poetry on your bathroom tiles? Or do you have the best poetic ideas while lying in the bath tub with a chandelier placed on the toilet seat and a glass of red wine on the bath tub rim? (can happen to me)
Maybe there’s a selection of poetry books piled up in that “quiet place” cause that’s the only time during the day when you have really time to read?
Or maybe you just let your mind flow free with the water, and later find all these wet & foamy verbs and vowels in the towel?
Today we’re writing bathroom poetry.. wherever this takes you.. and regarding my son, he just smiles and kisses me when he sees my soaking wet pajama hanging on the bath tub rim later…again… sigh..
My name is Claudia, I’m your host today – and this is probably the “cleanest” prompt we ever had…smiles
.

Fun prompt, although I went grim. On my blog I thought it was going to be Kelvin’s prompt. Sorry, Claudia. I’ll add a comment! Thanks for the unique prompt. Happy weekend all.
a very thought provoking piece victoria.. and happy weekend to you as well… smiles
Thank you for the unique prompt ~ This is my first time writing bathroom poetry, ha ~Like household poems, it is a challenge to write something new and poetic about this everyday ritual or dangerous place) ~
Happy Saturday to all ~
ha yes…all kind of unexpected things can happen in a bathroom…even a pirate attack..smiles
it will be fun to see what comes out of this prompt for sure…
Not so sure about this being all that clean:
A night ‘on the tiles’ ?
heh…smiles…
they are rather cold on the tush you know….
After reading Glenn’s post, I can believe it ~
glenn’s was a riot…ha…my sides still ache from laughing so hard…smiles
oh it was…lol…
ah, what can i say…maybe its the guys that take this to weird places…grins…
Claudia – I also have gone very grim! I’ve been thinking of showers and something super grim came up. Not completely sure I want to post – with that sweet little duck also in the background. But will see. k.
post it!!!!!!
I will. I don’t think I can come up with graphic, but will. K.
looking forward to read..
haha…depending on what it is…we may not need it too graphic…smiles..
I have a whole collection of duckies.. and today it’s raining, but I went back to my childhood instead 🙂
ha..as kids we used to flood the bathroom…fun…smiles
Thanks again for another great prompt, Claudia… quite original… = )
alright…heading out….be back later to catch up and return comment once we get home tonight….have fun poets….cant wait to see what you got…
Claudia, well that prompt made me think. Writing ‘bathroom poetry’ is defiinitely a first! I think I might have told you this story when I was in Germany. When I was trying to impress people with my German one of my early times in Germany I asked them for the ‘badezimmer.’ I just intended to use the ‘bathroom.’ The hosts looked at me with wide eyes. It seemed that the ‘badezimmer’ was the room with the bathtub (and they wondered why I would want THAT!) when what I really wanted was the ‘toilette’ which was different. Ha ha, I should have written a poem about that!
ha yes..i remember that you told me… vice versa..i was asking for the toilet in england and learned that this is kinda rude…oy…difficult to learn about the cultural details…
So true, Claudia. This makes me laugh. In my country as well to ask BLUNTLY for the toilet would turn people’s eyes. The bathroom….or the restroom…would be much more subtle. The cultural details ARE unique.
ok…bedtime for me…see you tomorrow in the AM after my morning shower…smiles
sleep well claudia….
Quack….
My only quiet place–as they grow older I know that will be less true, but for now, if you can’t find mommy, she’s in the bathroom!!!
Oh and love the photo, Claudia–cool colors and cute duckie!
smiles…it is one place you can escape when you need to….smiles…
and def a good thing to lock the door cause the kids will follow you in…
Really? Who’d a thunk it? Oh, well, thar she blows! I should have called this one Morning Thunder.
oh my charles…you are keeping the trend of the men going…lol….
I’m yer dingleberry… … no… wait… it’s huckleberry! I’m yer huckleberry!
oh, and the hits keep coming…haha…
doc holiday rocks too…
Well–it usually happens at night–so. . .
alright…goodnight poets…see you in the AM….
good morning…have some catching up to do…cup of coffee and i’m ready to read…
I have captured my process or should I say, the process of not making a poetry there!
ha..much enjoyed your real life mix..
..thanks for a brilliant & interesting prompt Claudia… though not an easy one if i may say… but i made a vow to you & Victoria… and i’m standing my words… it’s raining loud here like a freak… & connections are ever slower… it’s a crazy day at my end… i initially wrote a poem for your prompt but when i’m about to put it on my blog i couldn’t find the manuscript… too late i realized i might have left it in the office last friday… so i needed to redo… and it wasn’t that easy.. remembering the words you’ve previously thought & written… ah…poor me… anyway… my vow is up.. smiles…
dang it kelvin…just coming from your site…an excellent write..honestly, you took my breath away with this
off to visit mom in law and a little walk in the sunshine (yes, we DO have sunshine…already for about 10 minutes or so..ha!)…will be back later to catch up with everyone after sam..
nice…enjoy…a cooler morning so i am cutting grass quick before church…then off to see mom as well…smiles.
For once, this isn’t a limerick. In fact, I’m not exactly sure WHAT it is. 🙂
Shower Demons
By Madeleine Begun Kane
As I shower
Poems pour out from parts unknown,
Demanding to be shared.
Still, I linger.
Verses taunt me: “Write us down.
Your thoughts, they must be bared.”
End of shower.
Laptop beckons. Towel’s dropped.
I’m free — my poem’s been aired.
haha that opening gambit…oy, not sure its poems that pour out of me..hahahaha…but i do get inspired there at times….wonder if they make a waterproof notebook…smiles….
ha smiles…there were times when i stepped dripping wet out of the shower, ran (naked) through the house to find a notebook & the ink blurred to puddles on the page…goodness…poets..ha…crazy folk…smiles
Oh, well, blew it with the timing on Mr. Linky, but posted this today anyway
Great prompt, thanks, Claudia.
