celebrating life, celebrating poetry, dancing in the workbreaks, it's all about people, OpenLinkNight, poetry, poetry sharing
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, depending on where in the world you are..
Are you still a bit breathless from celebrating?
I am – cause I did not only celebrate our 2 years pub anniversary last week but also my 25 years wedding anniversary as well – and it’s good to give room to celebrate those special events, looking back at what was and let the mind spin and visionize a bit about the future as well – pausing in thankfulness – smiling about the little anekdotes along the way…
We had a big party with family and friends on saturday, and I haven’t seen some of them for quite a bit – and it was just so good to spend an evening together, eating, drinking, talking, laughing – and the one thing I thought again and again was:
It’s all about people, it’s all about the people we meet along the way – those are the true treasures and what enriches and stabilizes our lives.
The day before the party my daughter came back from Australia after studying for half a year at Sydney university – and when we prepared the party place (a construction site which we thought is good symbolism for a marriage as well) I just enjoyed working side by side with her, decorating the place, inflating balloons, preparing the tables – setting up the music equipment – at one point, admidst the loads of work and unfinished things around, we just started dancing (see pic.. smiles) and yeah –
I’m here because of the people – of course because of the poetry as well – but I could read good poetry alone in my living room – I could write poetry just for me or for publishing a book that will be sold to readers I never met and never will – but what attracts me here and what makes me stay and come back again and again is every single one of you.
So thanks for being here, thanks for traveling that journey with us and thanks for partying & dancing in the work breaks with us as well.. smiles — happy OpenLinkNight!!

Claudia, Thanks for hosting and Congratulations on 25 years! Today I decided to link to a poem I wrote earlier this year as part of my 40 poems for Lent, and interestingly it has a little something to do with celebrating. 🙂 Well, it’s time to go get me some lunch and then come back for some poetry. Peace, Linda
claudia said:
ha smiles…enjoy your lunch linda…so what’s on the menu…? and cool on the celebration theme of your poem…will check it out in a bit
Linda Kruschke said:
Lunch is an Arby’s roast beef sandwich and their new house made chips. Only on the way back to the office I started wondering if the chip seasoning has milk protein in it, which means I can’t eat it. Will be checking online before I start eating.
claudia said:
oh i do hope it has no milk protein and you can eat it…
Linda Kruschke said:
No milk! 🙂

Aww, what a heart-warming story Claudia. I am so glad you put that picture up of you and your daughter dancing. Got goosebumps looking at it and feeling the love. Thanks for sharing and for hosting OLN my friend. I plan on stopping in with a poem. The weather in Minnesota is so beautiful that I have no excuses for not being inspired. See you at the pub later on…

I just wrote and published this with no prompt cuz it was in my head. Synchronously, I received your OLN prompt so am linked up. Me writing while dizzy and confused. Will do my best to visit and read as I can. Writing doesn’t really require my eyes. Typing is my “natural” way of thinking. As always, thank you for this wonderful place where I have learned to express myself in a very different way.
claudia said:
oy – hope your eyes are getting better maggie – and cool coincidence that the post went up when you just finished writing

Here’s to the next 25!
My brain is on empty, poetically speaking, and has been for quite a while. But I’ll be visiting over the next 24 hours.
We too are making the most of the unusual weather and go for midnight walks with a torch or under the moon.
claudia said:
nice…it’s after 10pm here and still so hot that you start sweating if you just move your toes…

hoping that poetic brain pops back to you soon aprille…..

Not sharing tonight (still entertaining family from California), but just want to pop in to congratulate Claudia & husband on their 25th. In this day and age an amazing milestone, and obviously a love that transcends life’s little unforseeen turns and bumps. Best wishes to you both!
Hope to be back next week to post. Happy OLN everyone!

Linked up & ran for an afternoon with my brother; saw RED2, a terrific humorous & exciting film! I loved your intro, Claudia, the reason anyone hangs around a Pub, tavern, restaurant, or club, is the fellowship, the people you meet, and those you befriend, become closer to. The astonishing thing about dVerse is the warmth & the talent of the couple hundred poets who hang out here. And the clarion bellows are filled to capacity on the power-punch OLNs. Some of the other prompt days do not get the free form energy that OLN always gathers. So nice to be a small part of it.
brian miller said:
actually i rather like the prompt days…its like family…there are a lot less taggers that just disappear after they drop a link…and most have something to say…its a different kinda energy you know….

Yikes! It’s already after 9PM here, I’m number 81, and I’m posting a silly sevenling I used to keep calm today–not knowing I was about to lock myself out of my house! But I had enough errands to enjoy until my tenant returned from work 3 hours ago. So, I’m hanging out for a little while, but I won’t read much until the weekend. I’m happy to hear that you celebrated BIG for all the anniversaries, Claudia. It’s about the people. Which is good, since you read my poem before. I tightened it up a little …
Susan said:
Travel–first to Philadelphia yearly meeting up north of here, then to the Hudson Valley to see my folks and then a short weekend at Omega Institute for a writing workshop on memoir with Marge Piercy. I took one with her back in 1980–but back then it was to learn how to teach creative writing in groups of 30+. This one is for me. Fun.

Claudia, happy anniversary! 25 years is a long time, and I agree that marriage is a construction site. I also am simpatico on the idea that poetry is a community activity — and what a community you have built here, so warm and supportive of one another! I love being a part of it. Thank you for being here.

This is a very beautiful gift whoever provides this structure. I could read here for the rest of my life and never post and find joy here. Thanks Brian for connecting. I’m not sure if I would have participated without that prompt! I am 53 and have never been interested in Poetry until now. Always good to find new avenues of joy in life!
