Hello, dear fellow poets, Marina Sofia here with you today and very honoured I am to be setting a prompt on this the fourth anniversary week of dVerse Poets.
Four years now that we have been visiting our ‘local pub’ – some of us ever since it first opened, some of us joined in later, some very recently indeed. We nod, smile, nurse our drinks, comment occasionally on the cocktail the other person is having… but how well do we know each other? I’d like to take this opportunity to invite all of you to get to know each other a little better.
3) Now write a short poem (no longer than 12 lines please, but it can be shorter if you like) incorporating these six words. You may want to list the words at the start (or end) of your poem, or else highlight them in bold in your poem.
2) Enter a link to your poem and your name by clicking Mr Linky below.
3) You will find links to other poets. Read, enjoy, share and comment on other poets’ work.
4) If you are promoting your work on social media, use the tag #dversepoets or @dversepoets
Hi Marina !!!! Thanks for the lovely post ~ Looking forward to getting to know each other more ~
Writing for this prompt came so naturally… I love the idea of getting to know each other better… those six words can tell a lot on their own, too… smiles.
Yes, an easy one for me too ~
I certainly like to think they do, Anthony. Looking forward to reading all the poems, and pleased to hear it just bubbled forth for you!
a very cool idea marina and looking forward to getting to know my fellow poets even a bit better… smiles
Me too Claudia ~
Definitely looking forward to learning more about each of you. Thank you Marina.
Love the words and picture you shared Victoria ~
This was an interesting way to write a poem. I have written to lists before – and played these ice breaker games at seminars but never mixed the two.
I have always written to other people’s word list, so this was fun to do ~
I suspect lots of surprises ( almost all good are in store )
Yes definitely ~
Very busy day.. with no limit to write additional POEMS.. as i’ve already completed two for the 14th.. but haha! if not for the 12 line limit my last can SYNCHRONISTICALLY meet the requirements.. anyway off to do all the wife and mother service duties for the day.. including dance walking in various stores.. and perhaps enough time to read and comment lounging on my my mother’s easy chair with laptop in tow.. if i don’t fall asleep first.. before completing four.. in flow..
Never the less.. of course.. happy 4th anniversary to all associated
with DVERSE..
But wait.. I think I have three significant terms.. in synchronistically Dverse poems..
and now twelve lines so
this is what I have to offer.. completed for the day.. be back later in Terminator way..
AND i might just do this twenty or so more times.. what the hell.. life is good..;)
Life is good, smiles ~
I love this prompt, thank you, Marina. Feel I should say sorry to everyone for my absence of late. Still haven’t moved house and it’s kinda getting in the way of everything. Bear with me. It’ll happen soon–it has to!
No apologies as we understand real life challenges ~ Thanks for joining in Polly ~
What a great prompt! Limiting it to 12 lines was hard, but I maybe cheated a little and turned what was two lines into one. 😉 I’ll be back later to read what others post and learn a little more about the dVerse gang. Now I’ve got a little work and some errands to run. Peace, Linda
I think with the lines limitation, we are forced to choose carefully our lines ~ I am making my rounds in bit ~ Thanks for joining 🙂
I cheated a LOT, Linda, to limit it to 12 lines. So if I can’t follow my own prompt to the letter, what hope is there for anyone else? But it was just to force us to really pare it down to essentials and thing about what’s really crucial to us.
This is a wonderful prompt and way to get to know each other – the six words say so much about us – I’ve written from lists before but never one that I made for myself!
This is so very much fun and yet, it is serious stuff – and it is celebratory. Let’s empty that bottle of sake I brought along with itty bitty cups because sake is dangerous!
I will drink with you, smiles ~
乾杯 Kanpai !!!! 🙂
Pass the Sake, PUHLEEZE!
I think I am more interested in reading these than writing lthough I do Love the prompt! I think I have Summer Brain…which is so relaxed that my pen looks like a Pinata, and my paper a pint of whatever. SO…I will link LATE, but surely be reading tonight. 😉
Oh, tell me about summer brain, Dawn… Heatwave for more than 2 weeks now. Nice but does make me mushy and unable to concentrate… and did I mention grumpy?
Unable to concentrate…yup. BUT I bet you are still findingtimetowrite, my friend! lol And in reality , me too. Now let’s see if I can get focused!
Fixed you up kanzen – link should work.
Enjoy your break?
You are always so good to this severely link challenged little person. One day I need to write a poem for the GIM. And yet another thing to be grateful for and amazed by.
It’s hard to decide between words, isn’t it? I had quite a different list initially and kept changing it…
I know. Only three of my words did not – love, family, Phoenix…. interesting prompt and rquired much thought and honesty.
Nice, Marina, much more than a word list , this six-word form requires introspection & candor, sprinkled with a sense of humor. Had trouble understanding the full scope of the prompt early on out on the trail, so had to scamper to finish one after the Pub opened.
Glenn, lovely to see you ~ I will be making my rounds shortly ~
Sorry to make your life hard, Glenn! But I’m sure you managed to come up with something very ‘you’ and meaningful.
I will be making my rounds later on. I am so looking forward to reading these and savoring them. Happy Day to you all…..as far as the drinks are concerned today at the Pub…kanpai!!!! A wonderful Japanese word meaning….dry the glass….huge smile
Sorry for my absence, everyone! It’s a good job I had scheduled this post to go up for 3 p.m. your time and 9 p.m my time, as our internet went down for several hours – also our phone, TV and everything else. So I do apologise for not being around to welcome you personally!
Hey everyone,
So good to be back again! Sharing my poem “Celebration”, hope you all like it 🙂
Thank you Marina for this wonderful opportunity 🙂
Lots of love,
Sanaa
And a perfect celebratory poem that is too! Thank you all for being so upbeat and delightful in your poems – and apologies for lowering the tone… I did start out well and then it got a bit messy…
You’re most welcome Marina 🙂
This sounds lovely! (Dell, from Dim Scribbles Diary, chatting from my summer place at Panache)
What a perfect name for a summer place, by the way!
Thank you for joining us from there.
And now I’m having problems logging into my google account so I can comment on Blogger, so bear with me. I can see your poems, but it may take a while till I can comment for those who are not on WordPress. Gotta love technology! DEFINITELY not one of my 6 words!
I did get your comment. Technology would be at the bottom of may list, close to death. Ha!
Marina–having a problem leaving a comment on your page. I get a message “Oops, that page cannot be found…”
Ha, told you, the internet hates me tonight. Maybe it’s trying to tell me to go to bed now and return in the morning all fresh!
Great prompt Sofia. It’s such a good idea to get to know each other better. I enjoyed writing mine. Now to read.
This was fun! I was happy for the line limit too because my brain is fried. What a long day! Can’t wait to read the poems. Happy Tuesday everyone.
Will probably read a few tonight and the rest over the next few days.
I know it’s difficult to write to a word limit, but I do know readers can be grateful to it, especially after a tough day or on a scorching day… 🙂
Exactly! 😉
Love this idea…..
Marina, this sounds like it will be fun getting to know other people better….thanks for the great idea 🙂
It certainly is – I’m nosy like that, no wonder I became an anthropologist…
And I’m amazed at just how well our poems reflect our selves and how wisely you all have chosen the words.
Exactlly. I loved my cultural anthropology classes. Nosy nosy nosy….and it has been such an adventure to read these and discover.
Happy Anniversary to all of you at d’Verse!! Thanks for hosting the party, Marina…we went to the county fair tonight and it’s late so will read tomorrow 🙂
A county fair sounds fun – with livestock, fun and games? Looking forward to your contribution, Lynn.
Yes, seeing the fair with grandchildren: rhubarb toss with prizes, bouncy house, ice cream & popcorn, walking through animal barns and listening to a mariachi band.
Rhubarb toss? Now that I have never heard of… time to broaden my horizons, methinks…
ha,ha…my daughter-in-law won $50!
What a grand idea. A happy way to connect and re-connect.
Thank you so much for dropping in, hope you find faces new and familiar, and we all have a good shingding… at least, I think that’s the word for it…
…or shindig? 🙂
That’s the one…
Marina, I so very much love, love, love this prompt. Would like to have been able to write to it…. Thank you for being the first to prompt after the break…..
Ah, you’re in our hearts and thoughts anyway, Mary – glad you enjoyed the prompt. You can always write to it later on and link it on OLN…
Thankyou. My first real attempt at writing with a prompt, just hope I’ve posted the link right. Looking forward to reading others. Cheers!
Welcome, well done on writing to a prompt, hope it’s not intimidating but fun experience for you. Looking forward to reading it, I’ll check if the link is all right.
FAR too much to do — but some prompts are irresistible. And so interesting where they can take us, in unexpected directions. This just happened to dovetail with some reminiscing I was doing….
Irresistible is what we’re aiming for, glad to hear it! Look forward to reading yours…
Thanks to this new crew for carrying the torch and keeping this dedicated site open for current poets and for new ones who will surely find it and become part of this great community. Sorry I’ve been out of commission for the last few months. I’ve been fighting health issues and distracted from writing at all, but slowly I am trying to find the will and time to start writing again. I may have been missing but I always have you in my thoughts. Thank you and congratulations poets!
We miss you too and are sending positive vibes and all our good wishes your way! We’re always here for whenever you can make it…
Bless your heart. I hope you feel better and able to join us at times when you are able. You are missed and it is good to see you whenever we can.
Happy anniversary !!!! So, happy to know you all are still growing as an artistic outlet for artists. I look forward to see many more years and Thank you.
Thank you for joining us for our celebrations. We hope we have a few more good years in us yet…
I was too late to link up with Mister Linky 😔
