Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you:
But when the leaves hang trembling,
The wind is passing through.
Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I:
But when the trees bow down their heads,
The wind is passing by.
Only about 5% of the universe is visible matter. There are many things that we cannot see but that exist nonetheless. Dark matter, radio waves, emotions, gravity, magnetism, love, time, thoughts. There are magical things that we cannot see, yet we believe they exist, like souls and the realm of spirits and fairies.

I love all the ways you can give abstract or invisible matters a form… I think this is at its core what poets try to do…

Thank you for posting Christina Rossetti. We were taught some of her poetry in primary school, Remember being my favourite of all.
I still have the children’s book with my first version of it. It smells of innocence and wildness.
Barkeep! Hail and greetings and all that medieval jargon! (No reason; just felt the need to be poetic.) A Scotch if you will, non-buttered. I love the prompt. Dropped something in a while ago. One of my absolutely favorite renditions of “Over the Rainbow.” It did make me wonder, this evening’s recording having been relatively close to her passing, whether she knew by then that she was dying. Her loss, beyond the personal devastation to her loved ones, was an immense loss to the music world. Now I’ll go do some prompt-responding … ‘See’ you soon! Na’ama
Her voice does have such a touch of melancholy in the recordings from that evening. Look forward to reading your work!

Wow, Jilly you hit the nail on the head with this popular prompt. Mine has a naughty little story to it. I’ve gotta have an ultra sound. Nop, I’m past the age of childbearing but my cheeky doctor pointed out one of it’s uses. To which I was quick to reply with more ordinary words than the poem. But hey, I take my poems from everywhere. Enjoy.

I’m doing a course out of IOWA at the moment on writing on the margins. And that is exactly what I have done, extended it into a 5/600 word story for that 😉

My goodness, Jilly! You hit the jackpot in terms of responses to your wonderful prompt! I have only 2+ hours until I’m on board hosting OLN (which always has a lot of posts just by it’s nature) and I am almost done reading posts to this prompt. I fear I must stop about 5 short as I need to get some things done before 3 today! LOVEd this prompt and enjoyed so so many of the responses to it.
