Welcome to Open Link Night! This is Frank Hubeny and I will be your host for the next two days.
The only constraints during Open Link Night are that you may link only one of your poems and the Mister Linky will close in two days. Other than that there are no constraints. Link whichever poem you want. I’ll be tending the bar in the comment sections below.
Don’t forget that the villanelle form challenge is still open. https://dversepoets.com/2019/03/28/forms-for-all-the-villanelle/
Let’s celebrate mid-April with three April poems.
I keep forgetting who said “April is the cruelest month”. In case you forgot as well, here is T. S. Elliot reading The Waste Land.
Sometimes poems can be thought of as songs and then music is written for them such as this version of Edna St. Vincent Millay’s Song of a Second April.
Or, for something more up-beat, try Ogden Nash’s Always Marry an April Girl.
To participate post a poem in your blog, copy the link to that poem, and paste it in the Mister Linky below.
See who is linking with you. To get to know them better read their poems for this Open Link Night. Remember, it will be open for two days, so come back to see who has posted afterwards.

The pub is open! Welcome to open link night. If I am not mistaken I think there may be a full moon tonight or tomorrow.

Happy Easter to all dVerse Poets. I wish you a sunny and restful long weekend. I’ll read and comment as much as I can but will have to get off the computer quite soon. I’ll be back early in the morning.

Happy Easter, Kim!

Hi Frank, thanks for hosting! I linked one of my husband’s poems. He doesn’t blog, but I am always telling him about dVerse prompts and he wanted to participate. I hope this is ok – I’ll be reading and commenting for us.
Frank Hubeny said:
It was a very nice poem, Crystal. I am glad you linked it for him.

Happy Easter, Clara! I enjoyed the sound in your poem of the raptor pursuing the prize.

Hi Frank and All. Frank, thank you for posting the youtubes. I watched the one for Edna St. Vincent Millay’s Song of a Second April. She knows how to get the bang at the end, wow. Happy upcoming Good Friday (why Jesus getting murdered is good has always been a mystery to me) and Easter to all who celebrate it. Hoping the Easter Bunny brings sunshine and warmth in the eggs.
Frank Hubeny said:
I am glad you liked those two and Millay does not disappoint. She leaves the reader with a bang at the end.
Nice poem of that spring lichen. I liked the yellow and white contrast.
msjadeli said:
Thank you, Frank. I learn bits and pieces every time I come to dVerse.

I love Edna St. Vincent Millay but felt the music trivialized the poem. The poem was lovely, though and liked Ogden Nash as well.. Thanks, Frank, for all the work you put into this!
Frank Hubeny said:
There was another video on YouTube that put this poem to music. You may be right that it trivialized the situation Millay was describing.

Beverly C, I tried to leave you a comment but it disappeared. I love the flow of your poem.

Sometimes non-spam comments go into a spam folder. I keep forgetting to check mine, but your comment reminds me to do that more often.

Ah, maybe that’s it. Thanks 🙂

Welcome back, Heidi!
I like your presentation of those “why” questions as unfinished business.

Thanks for hosting, Frank! 🙂 Hope this weekend brings Spring to all.
Mine was originally written for Laura’s poetics. Happy Easter to those who celebrate and Happy OLN!

Frank, I somehow posted twice. So sorry. Can you erase one of them? I was sure I’d posted but came back and didn’t see it so posted again. Then I came back and there were two of me.
Frank Hubeny said:
I don’t think I can edit posts, even my own here, but they weren’t duplicates unless Bjorn or Grace removed a duplicate already.
Frank Hubeny said:
I see the duplicate now in the Mister Linky.

Glad to see you, Frank! I like the thought in your poem of living the moment that has already passed away.

T.S.Eliot is for every season, but somehow feels very unique in Spring. Hope you have lovely holidays!

Happy holidays, Oloriel! Thanks for joining us in OLN.

I thought I’d like Ogden Nash’s April poem best, even while acknowledging the gravity of Elliot’s piece, but found myself swayed and lulled by Edna’s song version 🙂 Really nice having 3 moods/styles to compare!

Thank you, Felipe!
