It’s Quadrille time! Mish here with our fave 44 word prompt.
As I sat staring at my rec-room walls the other day apparently waiting for the perfect quadrille word to pop, I thought….hmm……why not?
Why not “knot”?
These outdated walls are begging for some paint and I dread the day I wrestle with concealing each one of those knots.
The word has many possibilities.
noun
verb knots, knotting or knotted
Of course a knot can be ‘a unit of speed equal to one nautical mile per hour’.
You can play with knotless, slipknot, knotless, unknot, knotty, knottier, knotlike, knotholes. You can even interknot and reknot. Feeling the love knot? Aww, go ahead and tie the knot.
I dare you to use pseudoknot.
So be knot afraid. Incorporate the word “knot‘ or a form of the word into your poem. Remember that a quadrille can be any style, but must be exactly 44 words, and …yes knot including the title.
Untangle that poetic muse of yours and join in!
- Write a poem of exactly 44 words, not including the title. Include the word “knot” in some form.
- Post it on your blog or website.
- Add the direct URL and your name to Mr. Linky.
- Add a link to dVerse on your blog so others can find us and join in.
- Read and comment on the work of others.
- Pop into the pub to say hello. We are friendly folk.
Welcome back to the Q44. 🙂 Today I’ll be serving up some warm, homemade pretzels and a beverage of your choice. Perhaps a dark stout?
Good evening all and thank you for tying me in knots with this prompt, Mish, although it all worked out in the end!
Haha, I’m glad it did ! Nothing like stubborn tangles of words. ;0
Hi Mish and fellow poets!
Knot a problem taking part tonight, as I saw your post earlier. Glad to be on board, and travelling at a rate of knots…
Hope it was smooth sailing! Thanks for joining in, Ingrid. 🙂
Hello Mish and All. Your prompt word is serendipitous. George would (k)not have it any other way. A homemade pretzel (with bar cheese) and a dark stout sounds juust right! It’s sunny out there and perfect with a coat. There are many mounds out back where critters have crawled out and something jumped into the water as I walked by (guessing a frog but maybe a turtle.)
Wow, sounds like Spring has sprung at your place. Here too, which was exciting to enjoy on my 60th yesterday. 🙂
Happy Belated 60th, Mish! It’s a good time of the year to be born and a good time of the year to celebrate your birth.
Thank you, Lisa.
This is knot a bad word at all… lots of fun… I had to comment on those walls… I think that is dated enough to have come back in fashion… you shouldn’t take it out, but keep it.
Oh noooo!!! I knew someone would say that. I have some really nice “retro” floors as well.
After a day like today I need a very large cocktail 🍸 please ☺️
One very large and fancy cocktail coming up, Christine. Pretzels are free.
Bless you! Cheers Mish 🤣
This is such a great word, Mish! So many ways to go with it, but somehow I was stuck. But now I’m not.
I’m not a beer drinker, but a homemade pretzel and a glass of wine would be great! I’ll soon be unknotted!
There are so many ways to go with it that I might have to write 5 quadrilles! hahaha
🤣
Hi Merril. I think wine pairs well with a pretzel just fine. It’s not a problem!
😋
Ooh, I’ll take a pretzel, and maybe some lemonade!
Well here you go….freshly squeezed lemonade and a pretzel for each quadrille!
Good evening!
A pretzel and dark stout sounds really good.
Thanks for a fun word to play around with. And I learned what a pseudoknot is. 😊
My pleasure….hello Redcat. Yes, that was a new one to me as well. 🙂
knot bad, knot bad, Mish. And happy birthday…
😀 Thank you Sarah!
A pretzel and ice tea for me! I enjoyed this prompt, thanks for hosting Mish!
Absolutely, Tricia! Thanks for joining in. 🙂
Ah, Mish, what a knotty little thing this one ended up being … 😉
Na’ama
haha…yes, those quadrilles can get carried away. 😀
Yep, them sure can tie things up, eh? 😉 (t’was fun, really!)
that got me knotted into a muddle thanks for a good prompt
You’re welcome…hope you made your way out!
My father created an educational mathematics website called CUT THE KNOT, which he pretty much dedicated his life to… and the name he chose for it was based upon the legend of the Gordion knot.
I just had to write about that.
Thanks, Mish.
❤

How interesting! Will be by soon to read. 🙂
Thanks Mish, simple and fun!
Great! Thanks for joining in. 🙂
my pleasure 🙂
A knotty challenge, and such fun, took me inwards in the end. Many thanks Mish, a tot of rum would go well.
Thanks for hosting. I am not one to ignore a dare. I wrote a 44-word micro-textbook on the proper folding of pseudoknots. I’ll take two pretzels, joined at the hip.
Thank you for hosting Mish, and excellent prompt! I went a biy esoteric with my piece, but anchored it solidly with Van Morrison!
Thanks for hosting Mish- wonderful word! I hope everyone is well.
Whew! I didn’t think I was going to make it! My brain got stuck on knot gardens and it’s taken more than a day for it to want to be a poem!
Thanks a lot for the challenge, Mish. I enjoyed writing to this prompt. 🙂
Hello, Mish–hope this does the prompt justice: https://aonceandfuturerecluse.wordpress.com/2021/03/28/forget-me-knot/
