Lillian here, hosting Quadrille Monday at dVerse. For those of you unfamiliar with this particular poetry form created by dVerse: a Quadrille is a poem of exactly 44 words, not including the title. In addition, the pubtender (host) of Quadrille Mondays, specifies one word that must be included in the body of the Quadrille. Writers must use the exact word provided, or a form of the word; not a synonym of the word.

So . . . when you were little did you like to pretend? Not just at Halloween . . . but maybe with friends who came over to play? Or perhaps you’ve had fun playing with your children or grandchildren, pretending to be pirates looking for treasure; or playing house with dolls and maybe “cooking food” in a play kitchen. Maybe you played school? Or perhaps you donned “dress-up clothes” and pretended to be a princess, king, doctor, firefighter, or ballerina. Children pretend so easily. We adults use our imaginations to go along with their ideas.

So today’s word to include in the body of your quadrille is “imagine” – or you may use a form of the word.

When I hear the word “imagine” I immediately connect it to John Lennon. I’ve heard his beautiful song many times, but I’d never seen the John Lennon Imagine Official Video until I googled the song for this post. I’ve linked to it below. Be patient, it takes a bit for the actual song to begin. So wonderful to see John Lennon singing these words and to see Yoko Ono with him.
