Welcome to OpenLinkNight folks! This is your opportunity to link 1 poem of your choice as this is no prompt-day. For those who missed the Mr Linky deadline the past week or this Tuesday’s poetics about “Frustration and Heartbreak”, this is also your opportunity to share your poem. Also, our Haibun Monday about “Morning” is also open the whole week.
Today, I am sharing an autumn inspired poem:
Autumn
The rusty leaves crunch and crackle,
Blue haze hangs from the dimmed sky,
The fields are matted with sun-tanned stalks —
Wind rushes by.
The last red berries hang from the thorn-tree,
The last red leaves fall to the ground.
Bleakness, through the trees and bushes,
Comes without sound.
To join us for Thursday’s OpenLinkNight, which happens every other week, here’s how to join:
See you at the poetry trail. ~Grace~
Welcome to OLN everyone!!!! Hope you are having a good day or night.
How nice to be here… I almost didn’t make it… got some plums, so I’m busy making jam… will get back a bit later.
Oooo – hope you are going to share that jam around!
I made 3 kilos…
Yummy!!!!
Oh yum.
Happy OLN everyone and thank you for hosting tonight Grace! I enjoyed Joan Mitchell’s poem even though it still feels like Summer here ;o) I’ve linked a haibun and will swing by to read in a moment xxx
It feels like summer here too…
It’s lovely to be here but I don’t think I can stay long. I have an abscess, the second one this year, on a back molar which is in very bad condition and which is going to be extracted to morrow lunchtime. I’m on strong antibiotics which are making me feel ill, so I don’t know how long I’ll be able to focus. I will be back in the morning, hopefully after a night’s sleep, to read and comment on any poems I miss this evening. I am so sorry – what with the Internet problem and now this, I’m wondering what will happen next!
Oh I hope you get better… and sleep well
Thank you, Bjorn. I didn’t get up until 7.30, which is most unlike me!
Sorry to hear this Kim. Do take care.
Thank you, V.J.
Hope you feel better Kim!!! Take care!!!
Thank you, Grace.
Hello Grace- Thanks for hosting. I posted my most recent…
Hello! Thanks for joining us.
I’m in with a political bit – sorry all. Too much CNN infiltrating my consciousness today apparently.
I get an earful of that too. Thanks for joining us!
Love it here, Grace. Such an eclectic crowd of talent.
Cheers for hosting Grace – much appreciated.
Anna :o]
Thanks for joining us Anna!!!
Hey all. Me please, it’s beastly hot here in new jersey. Mine I posted yesterday on Poets United. You might want to check out this one too, if you haven’t already. (it’s sad). https://erbiage.wordpress.com/2018/09/04/how-can-it-be/
Evening, Poets! Thanks for hosting, Grace! I sure could use a burgundy-based sangria! 🙂 Even after the early evening storms, it feels hot. Or is it just me re-experiencing the day’s heat all over again? LOL!
Hey everyone,
I look forward to reading and sharing. Exploring poetry has become a Thursday night ritual. Tonight’s routine is interrupted by Back To School Night. I’ll be back.
love that autumn poem Grace, nice to see you hosting tonight. It’s morning here on the equator, I offer you a calico morning poem
A lovely calico morning it is Gina! Thanks for joining us!
I wrote a bit of a tribute to my father… we had a wonderful weekend in Colorado with my cousins surprising Dad on his 85th birthday! There was some cake left…help yourself 🙂
That is a lovely surprise for your dad. Hold on to those wonderful weekend memories.
It was a precious time together 🙂 The photos will help us remember!
Ok, the poem is called “Deliverance” but it has nothing to do with Burt…still, so long Burt. You brought me a lot of fun.
Love the share! Sometimes titles have nothing to do with my poem too. Have a good weekend.
hello. i was referred here by grapeling (thank you again). what a lovely find on a very cold and rainy southern hemisphere morning in spring.
Sorry, I was late in approving your comment (it was in the spam folder). So nice to meet you through grapeling, and read your work. Feel free to browse our schedule and link up a poem when you can.
So so late to the party! Adding a little bit of jazz to the mix.
And then we’re off tomorrow to two glorious weeks at our beloved Provincetown….at the very tip of Cape Cod. A beautiful writing muse she is 🙂
I love Provincetown. Walk out to the island at low tide for me!!!
Have a great weekend Lillian!!!
Oops.. I mistakenly linked the incorrect poem. The second one on Mr. Linky (Java 101) is the correct link. Sorry.
No worries – its been corrected in Mr. Linky. Thanks for joining us.
Thanks, Grace. Got up early to post before going to Guad for the day with my houseguests and I guess I was hurrying and got confused with the links.
I love Provincetown. Walk out to the island at low tide for me!!!
Hi! I’ve added one piece of writing, but it’s not one poem: it’s a crown of sonnets. Hope you don’t mind my breaking the one poem rule that way. I wrote the crown in spring, but I’ve only just started sharing it. Thank you.
A fantastic share Sasha and worthy of publication like a chapbook. Cheers!
My alert has come too late again…so I missed it again. I have made a note to myself, now let’s see if I can find it when I need it.
